Abstract

Halal tourism is a rapidly growing global market segment and has become a trend for both Muslim and non-Muslim countries. The Philippines, as a predominantly non-Muslim country, recognizes the increasing importance of the halal tourism market segment. Halal tourism in the Philippines has been designated as one of the foucuses of The National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028. This study aims to examine the Philippines effort in developing halal tourism through BIMP-EAGA using qualitative methods and this research employs library research techiques using literature review data. The results of this study indicate that the Philippine government has taken actions to develop halal tourism through various initiative, including the development of eco-halal tourism, the promotion of culinary tourism destinatios in Mindanao, the opening of Muslim Friendly bays and collaboration with member countries in BIMP-EAGA.
