Abstract

Memory strategies are used to store and retrieve new information. The objective of this research was to find out the use of memory strategies by English Education students at Dayanu Ikhsanuddin University. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The memory strategies applied by the English language learners was Out of Class. The sample of this study was 17 English education students of Dayanu Ikhsanuddin University, academic year 2022-2023. The research findings showed that The learners correlated what they already knew and new things they learned in English. Different preferences and needs very much influenced the learners in applying this strategy. Watching films on Netflix, watching English content on social media were the ways to improve many aspects like speaking skill, correct pronunciation, enrich vocabularies and knowing English slang.
